GREATER CHINA ULTIMATE

ABOUT THE TEAM, by Team Director- Tim Edwards
It is fitting that 1997 should mark not only the return of Hong Kong to the motherland, but also Greater China Ultimate's first-ever tournament appearance. Composed entirely of ex-pats from Hong Kong, Taipei, Beijing, Seoul, and Singapore, GCU was formed to stake out China's place in the World Ultimate scene, and to prove that the sport has come of age in the Middle Kingdom.

A NOTE FROM THE CAPTAIN- Josh Hon

Our Mascot and Spiritual Advisor
"We went in seeded #50. We got spanked for four straight games over two days. We could have gotten bitter at each other and basically fallen apart like the pickup team we were. But we didn't. We hung tough, believed in each other, and started playing winning Ultimate. We did some spanking of our own. We all had to make some sacrifices for the benefit of the team but in the end we got a taste of what it takes to win."

"The fun wasn't all in the Ultimate though - I had a hell of a great time hanging out with everybody in between games. To quote Brian Sheehan, 'I haven't had this much fun in like 10 years'..."

"Lasting memories will be the spontaneous 'Feed the Buddha pizza pie' chant, 'Yeah Jersey', Greg hanging out the window yelling 'I like the black bra', Anu's hat story, Tim and his huge stacks of unsold T-shirts, and much more."
