Hong Kong Opens Club Team – Sign up here!

The winds of change are blowing across Asian ultimate and HKUPA. Women’s ultimate in Asia is growing rapidly and the idea of split gender ultimate is taking hold across ultimate communities all across Asia. Established opens and women’s teams exist in Japan, Singapore, India and Taiwan. The Philippines and China will follow suit soon. Split gender tournaments are springing up across Asia in the first half of the year.

This is an invitation to express your interest in forming Hong Kong’s first training opens team. Giovanni Lion will be the captain of the team, with Kevin Ho and Lewis Glover forming the remainder of the leadership group.

We will practice from January until June of this year and aim to attend the following tournaments:

1. Shanghai’s split gender tournament – March 11-12; and

2. AOUGCC 2017 in Manila – August 17-20.

If there are other split gender tournaments during the above period, we will aim to attend those as well.

We may also combine with members of the Hong Kong women’s team, BFF, to send one or two teams (depending on numbers) to the Shanghai Open in June. This will be decided later in the season.

As our leadership group is comprised of Junk players, we will be expecting a high level of commitment to this team. In particular, we will expect a certain level of practice and tournament attendance, and these will be factors in the selection of our roster.

If you would like to be a part of this team, please express your interest here by filling out this form on or before 5 January 2017: https://goo.gl/forms/PjYPPnKkOLriOg2s2. We will aim hold tryouts the week after and aim to begin practices by mid-January.

Please feel free to email Kevin Ho (kevin.ho@msn.com) if you have any questions.
