We’ve had 11 rounds of the HKUPA 2008 Autumnal League Season and with just one round left to go, it’s frightfully close. Yes, you heard right. It’s so fantastically close that I’m forced to use f words.

The results in the last two rounds have only served to make it even closer, and I’ll briefly recap them here. In Round 10, the Blue Smurfs pipped Red(iculous) by one point, 10-9. Meanwhile, Black Rain dished out a solid tea bagging to Clever Underwear Manipulation (White), winning 15-7. In Round 11, Team White rediscovered their mojo to thwack Red(iculous) 14-9, while the Blue Smurfs were again involved in a close game – this time drawing 9-9 with Black Rain.

The upshot of all of this is that with just one round to go before the finals, any team could potential find themselves playing the CHAMPionship game – or the CHUMPionship game. So, I’m going to break with tradition and publish the league tables here – and then devote the rest of this report to the possible outcomes.

Here’s how your team looks heading into the Final Round, where Black plays Red and White plays Blue.

Blue - Guarantee themselves a spot in the final if they beat (or draw with) White. Their percentage is dreadful though, so they are at risk of dropping to third place if they lose.

Black - A better percentage than White means they will almost definitely play in the Final if they beat Red, and a draw would probably do the trick as well. A loss would see them out of the race for the final.

White - They have an inferior percentage to both Black and Red, so really need to beat Blue in order to make the final.

Red(iculous) - A superior percentage means that if they beat Black, and if White beats Blue, then Red should pip Blue for the second place in the final.
